The $RENT token
A community token whose trading fee feeds the vault, with no claim on the vault in return.
What $RENT is
$RENT is Rentday's community token. It trades on a Pons bonding curve on Robinhood Chain and has a fixed supply. Holding $RENT gives you no claim on the apartments, the vault or the USDG in it, and no share of the rent. vRENT is the vault share. $RENT is a separate token.
The token fee
1% of $RENT trading is routed to the vault. This is the token fee, and it reaches the vault in four steps:
- The fee accrues in ETH as $RENT is traded.
- The operator claims the accrued ETH.
- The operator swaps the ETH to USDG.
- On rent day the operator settles the USDG into the vault, where it raises the vRENT price the same way net rent does.
Each Roll reports the ETH claimed, the USDG received, and the hashes of the claim and swap transactions, so you can look up both on the explorer. The two amounts also give you the rate the swap achieved.
A one-way link
Trading in $RENT feeds the vault, and nothing flows back. The vault does not buy $RENT, vRENT holders receive no $RENT, and $RENT holders receive nothing from the vault. The $RENT price affects the vRENT price only through the fee its trading produces.
The vault performance fee is not charged on token fees, and the USDG goes into the vault whole. Charging a fee on trading volume would reward churn in the token.
Contract address
Launch soon. The $RENT contract and its Pons page are not live yet. Follow @rentdayxyz on X for the launch. The address will then be listed on Chain and addresses.
Risk
$RENT is volatile and can lose most or all of its value. Its trading volume, and with it the token fee, can fall to zero. See Risks.
